In September 2015, during the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the international community adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a strategic global framework aimed at ensuring balanced economic, social, and environmental progress. The final document of the Summit, Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 associated targets to guide the efforts of nations and institutions worldwide toward a more sustainable future.
Ukraine, together with other United Nations Member States, joined this global process and initiated the adaptation of the Sustainable Development Goals to the national context. This inclusive process, grounded in the principle of leaving no one behind, contributed to the formation of a strategic framework for Ukraine’s development until 2030. It also fostered a national dialogue on measuring social progress and improving approaches to economic growth, social justice, environmental protection, and responsible governance.
Within this context, Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav regards sustainable development as one of the fundamental principles of its institutional mission and long-term development. The University’s strategic vision is based on the integration of high-quality education, research, innovation, cultural engagement, and social responsibility in order to educate competent, critically minded, and ethically responsible professionals capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the region, the country, and the broader international community.
The University is committed to embedding the principles and objectives of sustainable development into its academic activities, research agenda, community engagement, international cooperation, and institutional governance. In doing so, Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav affirms its role as a modern educational and research institution that contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local, national, and global levels.
